Tejada Family Crest
Good evening, today we have the family crest of the last name Tejada which has an old and special origin.
This last name is of very old and very noble lineage, its origin is from the Sierra of Cameros, located near the villages of Muro y Las Lagunas, in the Rioja. There was found the house of Tejada. During a battle at the beginning of the IX century in which the King Don Alfonso “the Chaste” defeated the Moors, a knight named Sancho Fernández, fought with such courage that, after his lance was broken he continued giving blows to the Moors making them escape terrified. The lance used by kinght Sancho Fernández was made out of a wood called “tejo”. The King admired such bravery that exclaimed “those tejadas that Sancho gives”. Since then Sancho Fernández took Tejada as his last name and it became the primitive trunk of the lineage. In the year 844, the King Don Ramiro I, successor of the King Alfonso “the Chaste”, defeated the Muslims in the battle of Clavijo. In that battle, kinght Sancho Fernández de Tejada was recognized as a brave and brilliant. Its Arms: I shield lozengy in gold and gules.

Amazing, i’d like to know how many other Tejadas were in armed conflict. it may explain why i’ve always felt destined to be in the military.
Mr. Tejad,
I am glad that you have an interest on other people with your last name. This is a way to continue the tradition of heraldry in the modern world. We are currently working on a new section in our blog where people can interact and share information about their family and origin. In other words, if you are trying to communicate with more Tejadas and learn about them, you will be able to do so in our blog. Hopefully by next week we will be able to provide more information about this new feature.

Everytime I see the last name Tejada, I wonder if I am related to them. I think the new section will benefit me in the sense that I can try to trace familia throughout the States and World. Kind of interesting!
