La Madrid Family Crest

Good evening, today I am posting the family crest of the last name La Madrid.

lamaThis is an old lineage, it took its name of the place called La Madrid, in the Valley of Valdaliga, in León. In the Chronicles of Alfonso X “the Sage”, don Vicente de la Madriz is mentioned, he was a descendant of don Miguel Fernández de la Madriz who lived in the reign of Alfonso XI.
Through the years this last name had variations, such as Madrid, La Madrid, Lamadrid and Lamadriz. Don Diego Fernández de La Madriz, vassal of king Don Juan I, had his name written with certain power that the village of Madrid granted him homage in the year 1384 by the King from Armenia.
Mrs. Josefa Lamadrid Cosío y Manríquez, was created Marquise of Valdavia in June 21 1883.

Shield per pale: 1o. In gules field a castle of gold, port and windows of azure, surmounted a flying eagle of sable and 2o. field of gold, with a cross fleuretty of gules. Bordure in gules with five lily flowers of gold.
