Asturian family name, from the village of Aviles in Oviedo, Spain. In this village was originated this lineage, hence Don Rodrigo Rodriguez de Avilés took part in the conquest of Murcia, once occupied the city, this gentleman inherited a considerable fortune, so he founded his new solar house, which is considered the trunk of the Aviles of Murcia. The descendants of this gentleman created solar houses in the provinces of Albacete and Alicante. Don Jose de Ortega de Avilés, Avilés became Marquess April 2nd, 1761. Also in 1761 was awarded with the title of Count of Aviles Don Jose Fructuoso de Avilés.

Its arms: On gules field a castle in gold, with a wing on each side, on waves of silver and azure.
