This story is a total lie. The branch of Delaunet which left for Spain invented it. Delaunet is a very widespread name in France. It wants to say the one who lives near an alder forest. Usually it spells Delaunay or Delauney. It is a mistake of writing made in 2 regions, Anjou and Burgundy, that transformed the name into Delaunet. François Delaunet who married Sophie de Beauvau Tigny has never been noble. And the Louis XIV ruling they speak about has never existed. This kind of lie could bring them a trial.

The maternal side of my family were Cannon’s. My Grandmother was Mary Cannon from Meenacarn, she married Patrick Joseph Gallagher and they lived in Dooey, Lettermacaward. Brothers and sisters names were Dominic, Patrick, Cormack, John, Peter, Bridget, Rose, James, Hugh, Joseph, Michael, and Twin girls who died at birth. Patrick, John and Peter went to the USA and did not return to Ireland. All other brothers and sisters lived in Ireland and Scotland. Their Mother was Sisley and their father was John. All born in and around Donegal. Wondered if any of this information helps others and in return maybe a swop of information. My mother lives in England now. Sisley and John were her maternal Grandparents.
